The Highland Council - Northern Potential Project
The Highland Council was not initially looking for an OSS solution to provide content management for the two websites supporting the Northern Potential project. When project manager, Rod Deacon, saw the tenders from EMC, however, his interest grew. Using the eZ publish enterprise CMS, EMC was able to offer the lowest tender price, at the same time as delivering comprehensive functionality and a full five year support and help desk contract.

From a modest introduction to OSS, the firm now connects its 28 offices with an Open Source communications infrastructure supported by The Linux Centre, and considers Open Source technology for all its new technology developments.
Local Government - Custom Application Design
Not a shoehorn in sight, CnES, The Western Isles Council, gets a custom package for a fraction of the price of an off-the-shelf application. Using web based Open Source technology, the EMC solution works with both Microsoft and Open Source desktops.
